NEW YORK, June 17, 2026 — Production of Rogue Informant, a feature-length dramatic film based on the true story of Wall Street trader, broker-dealer founder, and federal cooperator Guy Gentile, has officially entered development. The film's companion site, rogueinformant.com, is live today.
Drawn from federal court records, declassified FBI memoranda, and Gentile's first-person account, Rogue Informant tracks the rise of SureTrader — the Bahamas-licensed broker-dealer that became one of the most-used high-leverage day-trading platforms for U.S. retail traders in the mid-2010s — and the parallel undercover cooperation that, according to a publicly released FBI memorandum, helped federal authorities dismantle a multi-million-dollar penny-stock manipulation ring.
In January 2017, a U.S. District Judge in New Jersey dismissed the federal indictment that had been brought against Gentile in 2016, ruling that the government had exceeded the statute of limitations.
